I paint on ceramics – does anyone know the best sealant to use that doesn’t cause chipping or poison.?
I am a western artist in Montana www.rustycowboy.com. I often paint on ceramics – generally I seal them with spar varnish because they are just decorative, but I have been commissioned to do two plates that will be used as serving platters. I don’t want the varnish to chip and I don’t want to poison my client – any suggestions?
You might try one of those paint your own ceramic studios You could buy bisque, paint it and have it fired
This will force you to try using other colors and techniques. Always a good way to stretch as an artist.
